Plenty of fire in this stylish thriller. I was expecting the new blaxploitation thriller “Is God Is” to be wildly entertaining and ambitious and it is. And it also is a grindhouse […]
Is God Is
The Punisher: One Last Kill
Not the TV special this vigilante deserves. Jon Bernthal reprises his Marvel role as Frank Castle A.K.A The Punisher in the Disney+ MCU special “The Punisher: One Last Kill” and in the […]
Obsession
A horror movie that’s attached to you. In the new horror movie “Obsession,” the only way the young man Bear (Michael Johnston from “Teen Wolf”) can gain the confidence of telling his […]
Tuner

The Wizard of the Kremlin.
Not the ideal Russian political satire. I remember my late grandfather commenting on my review of “The Death of Stalin,” suggesting that I thought Lavrentiy Beria, the Marshall of the Soviet Union, […]
Deep Water
“Thrash” and “No Way Up,” eat your hearts out. Important distinction: try not to get this “Deep Water” confused with the Ben Affleck movie of the same name. “Deep Water” is another […]
One Spoon of Chocolate
RZA’s latest directing job is more aggravating than poetic. You know Quentin Tarantino had something to do with “One Spoon of Chocolate,” if he adds some Red Apple Cigarettes, white characters dropping […]
Apex
A better Netflix thriller than you may realize. I’m not surprised that the generic shark thriller “Thrash” would make it to Number 1 most streaming movie chart on Netflix a few weeks […]
Fuze
A pretzel of a heist and bomb thriller. A decade ago, David Mackenzie made one of the best bank heist movies of all time called “Hell or High Water.” A decade later, […]
Mother Mary
What pop stars deal with in the A24 world. Anne Hathaway plays a Sia, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga pop star named Mother Mary, who is going through an existential crisis and […]
