A breezy and comical take on Shakespeare’s tale. “Rosaline” is a witty and strong-willed made-for-Hulu romcom version of William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Romeo & Juliet,” only it’s told from the perspective of Juliet’s […]

Triangle of Sadness
A luxury cruise gone horribly wrong in comical ways. When “Triangle of Sadness” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last summer, it received a standing ovation from the audience, while informing us […]
Amsterdam
David O. Russell’s latest A-list caper is a big mess. “Amsterdam” is the latest star-studded entry from director David O. Russell, whose “American Hustle” was on my best of 2010s list, but […]
The Good House
Sigourney Weaver wins you over through her highs (Kevin Kline) and lows (drinking). Husband-and-wife filmmakers Wallace Wolodarsky and Maya Forbes (both behind “Infinitely Polar Bear”) guide Sigourney Weaver in one of her […]

The Greatest Beer Run Ever
Some warm and cold drinks are served. “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” is the follow up to Peter Farrelly’s Oscar-winning film “Green Book.” Let me make a distinction. It’s not his greatest […]
Meet Cute
Time Traveling romcom kills too many butterflies. I’ve dealt with two fantasy comedies this year where something magical happens to a woman who goes into a tanning bed. In “Mack & Rita,” […]
Confess, Fletch
Jon Hamm delivers as the charming and mischievous detective. I’ve watched the original “Fletch” comedy from 1985 with Chevy Chase, and he was funny and entertaining in that role. I didn’t hear […]
