Kirk Jones on “I Swear”

How this director made his first biopic and handled the cursing.

I watched “I Swear” last week, and I think it’s a great biopic on John Davidson, who was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome and become an activist. And that very same week, I interviewed the director Kirk Jones, whose credits also include “Nanny McPhee,” “Waking Ned Devine,” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.” Believe it or not, this is his first biopic, and he knows how to handle the subject matter through its highs and lows.
