Humor and heart get conjured up in this fun ride-to-film transition. 20 years ago, we had the Eddie Murphy film version of the popular Disneyland ride “The Haunted Mansion,” which didn’t work […]
Haunted Mansion
Sympathy for the Devil
A guy walks into a car and makes the driver admit his faults. There’s a certain vibe inside “Sympathy for the Devil,” which works as a midnight film, especially with its two […]
Barbie
A plastic movie with a real heart and colorful laughs. The routine of playing with Barbie dolls is simple. She wakes up all happy, takes showers with no running water, eats her […]
They Cloned Tyrone
Bring on the conspiracy and attitude! John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx all make a dream team in the Netflix satire “They Cloned Tyrone.” In the post “Get Out” era, the […]

Nimona
A gay knight and a spunky shapeshifter both make a dream team. “Nimona” is the new made-for-Netflix animated film, which is adapted from ND Stevenson’s graphic novel, and was originally under development […]
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Hey, Dr. Jones! No time for love! I was told about an event celebrating Harrison Ford, where there was a Q&A rule than fans couldn’t ask any “Star Wars” questions. But there […]
Extraction 2
Kick some more ass Hemsworth. The first “Extraction” was a fun made-for-Netflix action movie, because of the likability and convictions of Chris Hesmworth as the Australian SAS operator turned black ops mercenary […]
