Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis own the screen as enemies in this gritty and chilly western. “The Thicket” is an independent western that reminds us about a lot of things. One is […]
The Thicket
Rebel Ridge
Who would win in a fight? An ex-Marine or corrupt cops? “Rebel Ridge” kind of plays like a “Rambo” wannabe, as we follow a former solider who finds himself in a game […]
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Almost as ghoulishly fun as the original. The rental video store I used to go to as a kid was called “Hollywood Video,” and when it was closing its doors, it was […]
The Killer (2024)
From Hong Kong to Paris With Love. I want to make an important distinction that while “The Killer” with Michael Fassbender is on Facebook, Peacock has “The Killer,” which is John Woo’s […]
The Crow
A reboot nobody asked for. The 1994 cult classic “The Crow” would have made Brandon Lee a bonafide movie star if that prop gun didn’t kill him. It was a visual wonder […]
The Union
Wahlberg and Berry have an espionage of cliches. A movie with Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry should be entertaining, but “The Union” isn’t much. It’s more forgettable and typical than it is […]
Jackpot
This action comedy bets and loses. 11 years ago, we got “The Purge,” which had the one day of the year when all crime, including murder, was legal. And you have until […]
The Instigators
This crime comedy runs out of cash. Besides the “Ocean’s Eleven” trilogy, Matt Damon and Casey Affleck have also appeared in other movies-together or separate-like “Interstellar,” “Good Will Hunting,” “Oppenheimer,” “Gerry,” and […]
Borderlands
Yet another video game movie that is a pile of butt release. “Borderlands” is based off a video game, and looks like if “Mad Max” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” had a […]
Trap
The concert’s a hit; the outcome’s a miss. M. Night Shyamalan’s “Trap” is a curious one at that. I’m sure us fans and non-fans of his work are curious to know what […]
