Too much CGI, not enough fun. While Kong is dealing with reptilian creatures, Godzilla is busting disgracing Rome to save its people from giant monsters. Both these creatures get covered in CGI […]
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
DogMan
Smart dogs in a dumb movie that needs a muzzle. Luc Besson, the French filmmaker behind such hits as “The Fifth Element” and “Leon, The Professional,” was accused of raping San Van […]
In the Land of Saints and Sinners
Liam Neeson leads an Irish thriller with western overtones. “In the Land of Saints and Sinners” plays like a western on an Irish coast during the 1970s, and it sure feels authentic […]
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Sleeping Dogs
Russell Crowe can’t solve this formulaic mystery. Last week, I reviewed “Knox Goes Away,” a small-time thriller with Michael Keaton as a contact killer suffering from dementia. Even though I didn’t go […]
The American Society of Magical Negroes
Not as magical as the title suggests. If you put “Dear White People,” “Sorry to Bother You,” “Harry Potter,” “Sleepless in Seattle,” and “The Adjustment Bureau” in a blender, you’d have “The […]
Love Lies Bleeding

Godzilla Minus One
A Godzilla movie that everyone can enjoy. There have been many stories told of Godzilla on film. From the Japanese films to the Matthew Broderick mess to the Monsterverse movies (including the […]
Damsel
How Millie Bobby Brown Trains This Dragon. I’m so received the female-led Marvel movie “Madame Web” is bombing at the box office, because the more time has passed, the more irritated I’ve […]
Kung Fu Panda 4
This 4th entry lacks the kung fu that elevated the franchise. I really enjoyed the first three “Kung Fu Panda” films, because of the way they were able to broaden their horizons […]
